The verbs

Verbs are divided in 3 categories.

The verbs that end in - ER

Parler

Chanter

Travailler

These are the 1st group Verbs.

Then we have the ones ending in IR

Finir

Choisir

Aterrir

These are the 2nd group verbs

And then we have the weirdos, the 3d group, the ones that don't fit anywhere.

The bad thing about the 3d group, is that you have to learn them by heart. The good thing is that they have subdivisions. But more about that later.

For now, what you need to know is your endings.

Let me explain.

For the first group, our endings in the present are always the same.

Je...........................e

Tu..........................es

Il/Elle....................e

Nous......................ons

Vous......................ez

Ils/Elles................ent.

This means that the verb Parler ( to talk), chanter ( to sing), travailler ( to work), but also cuisiner ( to cook), marcher ( to walk), dessiner ( to draw) and many many more, are all conjugated the same way, so all you have to do, is learn what a verb means. Once you have indentified it is a 1st group verb, this is ALL you have to do:

Je parle

Tu parles

Il parle

Nous parlons

Vous parlez

Ils parlent

Je marche

Tu marches

Il marche

Nous marchons

Vous marchez

Ils marchent.

Do this exercise

Je cuisin

Tu cuisin

Il cuisin

Nous cuisin

Vous cuisin

Ils cuisin

If you got all correct, then we can move on to the next group, the second group endings.

If not, practice with these verbs and find their meaning.

Bavarder, nager, Attacher, acheter, melanger, crier, danser, tourner, flipper.
